Welcome!

Welcome to Oakridge United Church, located in beautiful Vancouver British Columbia, just moments from some of the most beautiful vistas in the city!

Like many other experiences in life, walking through the door of a church can be intimidating, especially if you are new to the area, church, or faith. We warmly welcome you to join us and are happy to answer any questions you may have about our church and community. We hope you will make Oakridge United your church and spiritual home.

What can I expect at Sunday morning worship?

When you enter the doors of Oakridge United, you will be warmly welcomed by our greeters. If this is your first time visiting, please let our greeters know, and they will guide you to sit with a few friendly faces in the pew. Our Sunday worship service begins at 9:30 AM and ends around 10:30 AM. We invite you come a bit earlier to sit and enjoy a moment of silence or some wonderful conversation with interesting people. We invite you stay afterward, and sip on a cup of freshly brewed coffee or a cup of juice and enjoy some fellowship right after our service.

We love our coffee hour time.

We are a caring and welcoming congregation. We love to laugh and sing, and though there aren’t many right now, we especially enjoy the enthusiasm of the children! Through our worship and fellowship, we experience God’s love for us and explore and grow our faith both individually and together as a community.

What about my kids?

We believe children are NOT the FUTURE of the church; they are very much the PRESENT and we celebrate that! However, truthfully, our church is in a season where we want to grow and welcome families with kids. So we are preparing our hearts and our church facilities to be open to the young and, of course, the young at heart.

We get it. Kids are amazing and we want your family to feel safe.

Where do I park?

Right, now, as we finish renting for the next few months, there is ample parking around the whole building and especially on the east side church parking lot. But there’s lots on surrounding streets.

However, when we move to our new building in March, we will have 14 underground spots and select street parking around the facility.

Is the church accessible?

At our rental facility, Marpole United, the church sanctuary is wheelchair accessible through the parking lot ramp up to our east entrance.

In our new building, we have a couple of options:

From the underground parking, an elevator provides access to the main level hallway.

A handicap accessible washroom is available off the narthex in the rental facility. Our new church will have main floor accessible bathrooms.

What do I wear?

Like most churches, there is a variety; some people like to dress up for church, while others prefer to wear more casual clothes. We welcome you to worship with us as you feel most comfortable.

How can I learn more and get involved?

Feel free to speak to anyone. We’re pretty small right now and so most people know what’s going on and who to connect you with. But we’re planning for growth, and so we have a few other ways to connect. Fill out our ‘Pew Card’ checking off any request you may have.

  • Ask our greeters about a possible tour of the church building.
